The first expedition takes you to the dynamic region of Mount Hagen, where we take a look at the Melpa culture, the local ethnic group, who combines a strong traditional identity and the modern world.
Then a private air transfer leads to a comfortable floating hotel in the heart of the swamp forests in the basin of the Sepik where one finds , the Middle Sepik, a region where crocodile men and spirits are still very much present. Then we head for the Highlands for a dive into the fascinating world of the Huli, the famous 'wigged men' and their beautiful body ornaments.
- Day 1: From Singapore to Port Moresby
- Day 2: Port Moresby / Welcome by our transfer team to Hagen
- Day 3 and 4: visit of Hagen and discovery of the Melpa people
- Day 5 : Transfer to the Sepik to see the crocodile men.
- Day 6 : Sculpture and the Sepik Spirit House
- Day 7: Transfer to Tari in the heart of Huli community
- Day 8: Discovering of the Huli culture and their body ornaments
- Day 9: Transfer to Port Moresby, city tour and shopping in arts stores.
- Day 10: Final visits of Port Moresby and transfer to Singapore.
Day 1 :Thursday: Singapore to PORT MORESBY.
Air Niugini PX393 flight at 23.10 to reach Port Moresby. It is preferable to arrive in Singapore at least four hours prior to departure. Night in the aircraft.
Day 2 : PORT MORESBY
Arrival in Port Moresby on flight PX293 from Singapore at 8.30 and transfer to Hagen by flight PX184 at 12.30. In the meantime, you take a breakfast in a hotel near the airport. Arrival at Mount Hagen and welcome by our partners' team who will accompany you to your lodge, Rondon Ridge, located on the heights of the city, with a panoramic view over the beautiful valley of the Waghi.
After lunch, you can take a stroll into the forest surrounding the lodge.

Day 3 and 4
Two full days to visit the surroundings of Hagen, one of the most fascinating and and diverse regions in Papua New Guinea, populated by the ethnic Melpa people. Mount Hagen is also fascinating due to its position in the economic heart of the High Plateaux of Papua, with a huge production of tea and coffee. Today, it is a region where development and traditions mingle, with the contrast of a modern economy and traditional lifestyle.
Each day will lead you to the discovery of the traditions and customs of the Melpa ethnic group, that was 'discovered' by Westerners in the years 1930 by gold diggers. The Melpa are known for their pride, ability for business and hard working.

Day 5 :
Charter flight to the Sepik River, flying over the large Central Highlands of New Guinea to the great plain of the river stretching over 1000 km, and home to the most mysterious cultures of New Guinea. Arrival at the airfield of the Middle Sepik, the best known are in the region renowned for its crocodile men, the famous Yatmoul people who scar their bodies to look likle the spirit of the Crocodile...
The transfer from the airport to your floating hotel, will take about two hours on a barge, which allows you to enjoy the beautiful landscapes and begin to experience the magic of the river. After lunch, you visit two or three villages along the river. Discovery of local crafts.

Day 6 :
Motor barge expedition to visit the main houses of the spirits on the river, including the most beautiful one, the village of Kanganamun. Thoroughly enjoy this day of discovery of populations that have fascinated anthropologists since their first meetings and continue today to practice with talent the ancestral art of the river : sculpture. At the end of day, after enduring the sweltering heat of the region, enjoy the pleasurable comfort of air conditioning back at your floating boat hotel.

Day 7 :
Another private flight to Tari, to the west of the Highlands, where one finds some of the most rugged and impressive landscapes in the world. Here, amidst the limestone peaks you are welcomed at Ambua Lodge, a mixture of local and modern architecture, offering superb views of the Tari basin. Here you are at 2100 metres above sea level, in the heart of the Huli ethnic group, known for its spectacular body ornaments.
In the afternoon you take a stroll into the surrounding jungle in search of birds of paradise.

Day 8 :
Full day devoted to the discovery of the Huli culture, where art, unlike that of the Sepik people where many things are expressed through sculpture, is based on the richness of the body adorning and these famous wigs adorned with feathers, mosses and flowers. The Huli culture is the most exciting and colourful of the ethnic tribes, of Papua. .

Day 9 :
Departure in the morning by Air Niugini flight for the capital, Port Moresby, where we are transferred to the Gateway, a very good hotel near the airport. After installation, our local team comes to pick you up for a tour of the city, a visit to the Museum, the Parliament, a garden of orchids and birds of paradise and a bit of shopping in an arts store.

Day 10 :
After a final morning visiting Port Moresby, transfer to the airport for the flight to Singapore at 14.25. Arrival at Singapore at approximately 18.45 local time and late-night flight back to France.
